festival tips and tricks

Break out your flower crowns, girls, because the festivals are finally upon us! And now that your suitcases are packed with your crop topssunnies, and clever graphic tees, it's time to talk hair. Concert and festival hairstyles are really inspired by the notion of enjoying the music, the amazing weather, and having a great time, Having said that, you want to look cool without fussing over your appearance too much!

Festivals are great time to think outside the box a little when it comes to make-up and accessories and create looks to stand out from the crowd. This summer stock up on Face Lace temporary tattoos, Topshop glitter pots and craft gems – also very useful for covering an unwanted blemish!

It’s all well and good saving flat (verging on greasy) hair with a spritz of dry shampoo, but when you’ve been using it for a few days, your hair could end up looking a bit frazzled. To lock in lost moisture and help detangle we recommend Percy & Reed’s Dry Conditioner, which comes in a handy travel size. If you find your unruly locks are beyond the point of taming, it’s usually time to whip out the headpiece. My top tip for festival hair is to invest in a headscarf. Retro is in and it doesn't get more vintage than this - it's the perfect cover up!

A number one tip of supermodels far and wide for clear, glowing complexions and lots of energy is to drink water religiously. In the words of Queen Delevingne “"I keep myself going by trying not to drink too much, drinking water and eating healthily”. We know alcohol drinking (in moderation) is more or less guaranteed at any given festival, but we’re challenging you to have at least one glass of water for every two alcoholic drinks – stay hydrated ladies!

Some tricks of the trade for faking stage-worthy hair.
Plan ahead. This may seem simple enough, but many forget the three key handbag essentials – bobby pins, dry shampoo and texturizing wax. These products give leeway for getting stray hair out your face, refreshing the look or embracing your waves.
Have a failsafe hairstyle prepared – namely the braid.
Never go without hairspray.

Although we’re reluctant to completely ditch the face slap at a festival, we’re willing to tone it down. Rather than layer on a heavy foundation, which is guaranteed to result in a full-on meltdown, we’re simplifying our products to a tinted primer, concealer and a dash of powder.
